Congratulations to Kian Hopkins on claiming the Under-15 Irish Pool Championship title at the weekend in J-Mac's, Navan. Kian has been knocking on the door the last couple of years, but after a successful campaign this season with a couple of tour titles to his name, he's taking home the big one. This was Kian's last year at Under-15 level, so it's not a bad way to go out.
Kian was also part of the Westmeath Under-18's team along with older brother Shane and newcomer Ryan McNamee. They played some excellent pool throughout the weekend, getting through a tough group in 2nd place. Following that, they beat a very strong Mayo A team in the Quarter Finals but unfortunately that was going to be their last victory after Donegal A beat them in the Semi Finals.
It was a great weekend overall and it's always nice to have some silverware coming back.
Well done lads, everyone at the WEPA are proud of your efforts and achievements.
Well done to Mark Scally and the IPA committee for putting this event together and giving the young players a stage of their own.
